Job Description

A Field IT Support Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining and managing IT systems for clients, ensuring smooth operations and reducing downtime. This position requires a professional who is adaptable and adept at troubleshooting and technical support. Field IT Support Engineers are responsible for traveling to different client locations, identifying issues, and implementing solutions to optimize system performance. They are often the first point of contact for IT-related issues, making customer service skills essential. This role involves installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining various hardware and software components. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about staying updated with the latest technology trends and have a solid understanding of IT systems, networks, and applications.


Responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Install and configure hardware and software systems at client locations.
  • Regularly test and evaluate new technology for potential client solutions.
  • Maintain documentation of all support activities and client interaction records.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients on system usage.
  • Ensure swift resolution of operational problems to maintain client satisfaction.
  • Implement cybersecurity measures to protect client systems from unauthorized access.
  • Train users on new software applications and standard operating systems.
  • Regularly update network security measures and antivirus software.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for hardware and software procurement.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend upgrades for efficiency improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in IT support, with fieldwork preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of various operating systems and application software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills are a must.
  • Capability to lift and handle heavy IT equipment when required.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to different client locations for fieldwork.
