Job Description

The Facility Manager is a critical position responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of an organization's facilities. This individual ensures that the physical environment is conducive to the productivity and well-being of employees, clients, and any other stakeholders. The role involves managing the building infrastructure, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, executing preventive maintenance programs, and coordinating with vendors and service providers. A successful Facility Manager must efficiently balance operational needs, budgetary constraints, and strategic planning to ensure optimal functionality of the organization’s physical resources. This role often requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot various facility-related issues promptly and effectively.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily facility operations, ensuring efficiency and safety are maintained consistently.
  • Manage facility budgets and financial forecasts to avoid overspending and optimize resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion and facility integrity.
  • Implement health and safety protocols to comply with regulatory standards and promote workplace safety.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with service providers for facility-related services and supplies.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify issues and areas for improvement proactively.
  • Develop and manage emergency preparedness plans to safeguard employees and facilities.
  • Lead and manage facility staff, providing training and guidance to enhance performance.
  • Report on facility performance, identifying trends and suggesting improvements to senior management.
  • Coordinate with the IT department to ensure technological infrastructure aligns with facility needs.
  • Handle any facility-related complaints, addressing issues promptly to maintain occupant satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in facility management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Facility Manager or in a similar managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of facilities management principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage budgets effectively and streamline operational costs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate and liaise with vendors.
