Job Description

The Facilities Manager is a pivotal role within any organization, responsible for ensuring that buildings and their services meet the needs of the people that work in or use them. This professional oversees the maintenance, safety, and functionality of the built environment, ranging from small offices to large campuses. The Facilities Manager plays a key role in strategic planning and day-to-day operations, particularly in relation to buildings and premises. They are tasked with reducing operational costs while increasing efficiency. By managing services such as cleaning, security and parking, to checking that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily, this role is essential to creating a conducive work environment. The Facilities Manager works closely with senior management teams and may have a hand in everything from managing budgets to ensuring health and safety standards are consistently met.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring effective management.
  • Develop and implement facility management policies and procedures for efficiency.
  • Monitor and oversee all building and equipment maintenance tasks and projects.
  • Manage and coordinate services such as cleaning, security, and parking facilities.
  • Coordinate building space allocation and layout to optimize space utilization.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to meet safety and health standards.
  • Negotiate contracts or agreements with suppliers and service providers.
  • Ensure the facility meets all current health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and manage facility budgets, controlling expenditures effectively.
  • Liaise with upper management to report on facility operations and progress.
  • Maintain accurate facility and equipment records for comprehensive reporting.
  • Lead and manage facility team members, fostering a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Facilities Manager or similar supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of facilities management operations and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are imperative.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and facility management software tools.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and government guidelines for facilities.
