The Estimator – Interior Fit-Out is a critical role within our construction company, focusing on the costing and financial oversight of interior fit-out projects. This position requires an individual with expert analytical skills and a keen eye for detail to evaluate project specifications and drawings, to successfully develop cost estimates that reflect the true scope of work required. You'll be working closely with architects, designers, and project managers to gather all necessary information, ensuring all costs are accurately captured and proposals submitted are competitive yet profitable. Candidates with experience in commercial interior fit-out projects, a detailed understanding of the construction industry, materials, and labor costs, and excellent communication skills are encouraged to apply. As part of the pre-construction team, your contribution will ensure our projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret project plans and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Liaise with architects and project managers to clarify and gather information needed for estimates.
• Prepare comprehensive summary reports on estimate calculations and assumptions for management review.
• Assist with the evaluation of preliminary project budgets and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with the procurement team to obtain current pricing on materials and labor costs.
• Maintain up-to-date records of project estimates and revisions for future reference.
• Review and compare bids from subcontractors and suppliers, providing recommendations to management.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss and review project estimates and budgets.
• Work closely with the construction team to ensure project estimates align with the construction schedule.
• Ensure all estimates comply with relevant legal, safety, and health requirements.
• Facilitate the handover of estimating tasks to the project management team upon project approval.
• Review post-project cost variances and provide insights for improving future estimates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in interior fit-out or related estimating roles.
• Strong understanding of construction materials, labor costs, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with detailed precision.
