An Estimation Manager is integral to any organization that undertakes projects requiring accurate cost assessments and resource allocations. This skilled professional is responsible for developing comprehensive cost estimates by analyzing project plans, technical specifications, and other relevant documents. The role involves utilizing specialized techniques and methodologies to predict the most cost-efficient and technically feasible approaches to project execution. The Estimation Manager works closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are executed within budgetary constraints while maintaining quality standards. This role also includes overseeing the estimation team and ensuring that all estimates are completed accurately and on time. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement estimation strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Review project specifications and drawings to accurately estimate costs.
  • Lead the estimation team in preparing detailed and efficient project estimates.
  • Present cost estimation results and recommendations to stakeholders and management.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates.
  • Identify, analyze, and evaluate potential project risks related to cost estimation.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior estimators and staff members.
  • Engage with suppliers and vendors for cost estimation of materials and services.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends and cost drivers within the industry.
  • Continuously improve estimation processes and methodologies for optimal performance.
  • Utilize specialized software to enhance the accuracy of cost predictions and estimates.
  • Compile and report on cost estimate data to assist in budgetary and financial planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in estimation or cost management roles.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel or similar.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and mentor others within the estimation team.
  • Experience with complex project assessments and developing strategic solutions.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, materials, and construction techniques is important.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
