Job Description

As an Estimation Engineer, you will play a vital role in the initial phase of construction and manufacturing projects by accurately predicting the costs involved in any project or process. This is key to formulating competitive bids, helping the business secure new work while making sure that existing projects stay within budget. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to gather necessary details and estimate the resources, materials, and labor needed to ensure the successful completion of projects. Your keen understanding of engineering principles, as well as market trends and cost data, will be essential in providing reliable and pragmatic cost assessments that drive business success.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare accurate project estimates.
  • Consult with clients, architects, project planners, and engineers to develop proposals.
  • Provide detailed cost breakdowns of the estimates to clients and project managers.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide on proposals and bids.
  • Consult with construction supervisors and architects on changes and adjustments.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to obtain cost information.
  • Use specialized software for estimating costs and resources required for projects.
  • Monitor changes to designs, trends, and market conditions affecting cost estimates.
  • Prepare and submit tenders and follow up on quotations and negotiations.
  • Assess risks and provide advice and strategies for minimizing cost impacts.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to align on project expectations.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis to align budget expectations with project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in estimation or cost engineering roles.
  • Proficient in estimation software, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in cost estimation processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of engineering processes and principles in the relevant industry.
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines successfully.
