Job Description

An Estimation Engineer is a critical player in project management and execution, responsible for providing accurate forecasts of resource requirements and financial expenses associated with upcoming projects. This role is integral to guiding the decision-making process, providing stakeholders with key insights into the viability and cost-effectiveness of projects. By analyzing project blueprints, specifications, and scopes like labor, materials, time, and cost constraints, Estimation Engineers identify potential financial risks and opportunities. They liaise closely with project managers, vendors, engineers, and construction teams to ensure competitive and precise estimations are developed. An Estimation Engineer is instrumental in ensuring projects are completed within budget and an optimal financial strategy is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.


Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project cost estimates including labor, material, and time factors.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documents to prepare detailed project estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure accuracy of estimates.
  • Identify and evaluate potential financial risks inherent in project proposals.
  • Provide detailed cost analysis reports to support project funding decisions.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to secure the most accurate cost data and quotations.
  • Maintain clear communication with project execution teams and adjust estimates as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain an estimation database for various projects and components.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses to ascertain financial viability of different project approaches.
  • Monitor ongoing project costs to prevent budgetary overruns and align with the estimates provided.
  • Participate in post-project evaluation to compare estimated versus actual costs and outcomes.
  • Support business development activities by preparing bid proposals and technical documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in project estimation or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
  • Proficient in using industry-standard estimation software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills to interact with stakeholders.
  • Capability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
