Overview

The ESG Investment Analyst plays a central role in integrating environmental, social, and governance considerations into investment decision-making. This position supports portfolio managers, investment committees, and research teams by providing rigorous analysis of ESG risks and opportunities, evaluating company performance against sustainability frameworks, and contributing to the development of responsible investment strategies.


Key Responsibilities

ESG Research & Analysis

  • Conduct detailed analysis of ESG risks, opportunities, and performance across companies, sectors, and asset classes.
  • Evaluate corporate disclosures, sustainability reports, and third-party ESG datasets.
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments related to sustainable finance, stewardship, and climate policy.
  • Produce written research to support investment cases and thematic insights (e.g., energy transition, biodiversity, human rights, supply-chain risk).

Investment Support & Integration

  • Integrate ESG factors into financial models and investment recommendations.
  • Support portfolio managers with ESG inputs for valuations, scenario analysis, and risk scoring.
  • Contribute to the development of proprietary ESG methodologies, metrics, and screening tools.
  • Assist in the preparation of investment committee materials and ESG impact assessments.

Engagement & Stewardship

  • Support engagement with company management teams on sustainability strategy, governance quality, climate transition plans, and disclosure practices.
  • Prepare briefing materials for voting and stewardship activities aligned with the firms responsible investment policies.
  • Track engagement outcomes and contribute to stewardship reporting.

ESG Reporting & Compliance

  • Assist with internal and external reporting aligned to frameworks such as TCFD, SFDR, EU Taxonomy, and UN PRI.
  • Maintain high-quality ESG datasets and ensure accurate documentation of analysis and due-diligence processes.
  • Support audit, regulatory, and client-reporting requirements relating to sustainability disclosures.


Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience conducting sustainability, ESG, or impact analysis within finance, investment, consulting, or research environments.
  • Strong analytical skills, including comfort working with financial models and large datasets.
  • Familiarity with ESG frameworks and reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, SFDR).
  • Ability to synthesise complex data into concise, investment-relevant insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in asset management, investment research, or responsible investment teams.
  • Knowledge of climate-risk modelling, scenario analysis, or regulatory developments in sustainable finance.
  • Experience with ESG data platforms (MSCI, Sustainalytics, Bloomberg ESG, etc.).
  • Understanding of stewardship practices and shareholder engagement approaches.
