Job Description

EPC Contracts Manager is responsible for the management of all contracts with the customer, subcontractors and other third parties in relation to an Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) project or other similar project.

Other Reports to:

Business Line Commercial Manager (82940343) for Pre-execution, Integration Project Manager (82940194) [for IWC projects] for Post-execution.

Legal CoE Contracts Manager (82940419)

  • Ensures and takes the lead on administration of all project contracts in line with the project’s requirements, compliance with contract notification, certification, and response timeframes, tracking changes and monitoring each change through a change order process.
  • Is actively involved in preparing strategies to manage project contracts risks and opportunities and executing on those strategies including appropriate correspondence, record keeping, meetings and pro-active follow up to a suitable conclusion.
  • Prepares project specific subcontract templates/flow downs and assist with major subcontract awards (including negotiation of terms and conditions) thereby ensuring main contract terms are reflected to the extent applicable.
  • Analyzes the basis and extent of project change claims (both subcontractor and client claims); tracks claims and monitors progress through the claims resolution process; analyzes claims and identifies merit/validity if any, managing disputes and commercial interface/reporting with customer and other parties.
  • Performs analysis and valuations of project work done.
  • Ensures that all contract management process and procedures are in place to effectively control and manage the relevant project contracts.
  • Ensures that all necessary bonds, warranties, insurances, undertakings, etc are in the commercial interest of SLB and in accordance with the relevant project contract.
  • Takes ownership and proactively manages all commercial risks / mitigation on the project.
  • Maintains project contract-related documents and contract correspondence with customer, subcontractors and other third parties; provides both internal and external project contract-related issue resolution; communicates project contract-related information to all stakeholders.
  • Monitors and completes project contract close-out as appropriate.
  • Oversees the work of Site Contract Administrators & Subcontract Managers, as applicable.
  • Negotiates any final settlements on project contract terms with customer, subcontractors and other third parties.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years’ EPC complex international projects specific experience
  • Experience with EPC focused companies delivering complex international projects (oil and gas preferred)
  • Preference with a smaller number of top tier companies as opposed to a job/project hopper (the latter less attractive, but not fatal – since EPC tends to work this way)
  • Both pre-award and post-execution proficiency, with majority experience in post-execution proficiency
  • Process oriented, with ability to develop new processes as needed to improve efficiency
  • Responsibility for drafting and enforcing EPC specific agreements
  • Experience supporting customer and/or supplier arbitration and litigation
  • Language (Arabic, minimum) strongly preferred and needed
  • Legal qualification preferred, but not required
