About the Role

As an Engineering Manager at TPConnects, you will lead and inspire a team of talented engineers to build innovative SaaS and cloud-based solutions for the airline and travel industry.

Leveraging your extensive experience in software development, technical leadership, and people management, you will drive engineering excellence, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products aligned with industry standards such as IATA's New Distribution Capability (NDC).

In addition, you will play a key role in driving an AI-enhanced engineering culture, helping teams effectively leverage modern AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle to improve productivity, software quality, developer experience, and delivery speed.

Your role is pivotal in shaping the future of modern airline retailing while helping build an engineering organisation that embraces both strong software engineering fundamentals and modern AI-assisted development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality SaaS and cloud-based solutions.
• Drive the technical direction, architecture, and implementation of projects aligned with IATA standards such as NDC, ARM, One Order, and IFG.
• Work closely with Product Management, Design, Sales, and other stakeholders to define and execute product roadmaps.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Implement coding, testing, security, and deployment best practices to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges, providing guidance and innovative solutions.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI-powered engineering practices to drive innovation within the team.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables, priorities, and resource allocation effectively.
• Promote a culture of high performance, accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development practices across engineering teams.
• Enable engineers to effectively leverage AI tools for software design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Establish best practices for responsible and effective use of AI within the software development lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity, software quality, and delivery efficiency through automation and AI-powered tooling.
• Define and evolve engineering processes that combine strong engineering fundamentals with AI-enhanced development workflows.
• Measure and continuously improve engineering effectiveness through data-driven decision making, automation, and modern development practices.

Technical Expertise

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, or similar.
• Deep understanding of SaaS and cloud technologies, including experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
• Familiarity with modern software development methodologies such as Agileand Scrum.
• Understanding of AI-assisted software development practices and their application across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience evaluating and implementing developer productivity tools, engineering automation platforms, or AI-powered development solutions is highly desirable.
• Ability to balance development velocity with software quality, security, maintainability, and architectural integrity.

Industry Knowledge

• Experience in the airline or travel industry with knowledge of distribution, pricing, sales, and servicing is highly desirable.
• Understanding of IATA's New Distribution Capability (NDC), One Order, ARM, IFG, or related airline retailing standards is a strong advantage.

Leadership and Management

• Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams effectively.
