Job Description
AECOM is seeking a motivated Hydrologic & Hydraulic Engineer to deliver innovative, sustainable surface-water, wet-utility and flood-management solutions across our global infrastructure portfolio. Reporting to a Senior/Principal H&H Lead, you will undertake hydrologic modelling, hydraulic design, technical reporting and multi-disciplinary coordination.
- Lead and deliver 1D/2D surface-water, drainage and flood studies from concept through detailed design.
- Develop, calibrate and run hydrologic & hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, WMS, InfoWorks ICM, etc.) for surface-drainage, piped networks and cross-drainage structures.
- Conduct rainfall, runoff, meteorological and water-balance analyses to inform design criteria.
- Prepare detailed designs for potable-water, sewerage, stormwater, irrigation and firefighting networks (using WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, HY-8 and related tools).
- Produce high-quality engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications and technical reports in accordance with AECOM’s quality procedures.
- Coordinate closely with CAD/BIM/3-D modelling teams, ensuring models are accurate, clash-free and aligned with project milestones.
- Monitor budgets, schedules and risks; flag discrepancies early and propose corrective actions.
- Mentor and guide entry-level engineers, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Champion Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) / Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) principles across all deliverables.
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams (geotechnical, environmental, structures, transport, planners) to provide integrated water solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil, Hydraulic, and/or Environmental Engineering discipline.
- A Masters Degree in Water Engineering/Hydrology would be an advantage.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in water engineering, including stormwater drainage design in civil and transport projects, stormwater management, and planning.
- Experience in UAE/ GCC experience is essential, and familiarity with the Dubai Municipality design standards and RTA guidelines and standards.
