Engineer - Maintenance

Job Description

Role Overview:The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of elevators and escalators under the assigned portfolio. This role focuses on preventive maintenance compliance, handling customer escalations, resolving complex technical issues, supporting modernization activities, and developing field technicians through training and guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure 100% completion of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) as per contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
• Handle customer escalations promptly, provide technical resolutions, and maintain strong client relationships.
• Diagnose and resolve complex breakdowns and recurring technical issues efficiently.
• Plan and execute major repairs, component replacements, and system upgrades.
• Support modernization projects, including site assessments, technical evaluations, and execution coordination.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for critical failures and implement preventive measures.
• Ensure compliance with UAE safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
• Perform regular site audits and inspections to ensure maintenance quality and safety adherence.
• Provide on-the-job training, technical coaching, and skill development for field technicians.
• Coordinate with spare parts, logistics, and planning teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
• Optimize manpower deployment and improve service efficiency within assigned routes.
• Support emergency callouts and ensure quick response times for breakdowns.
  
  

• Strong technical knowledge of elevator and escalator systems (mechanical, electrical, and control systems).
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong communication and escalation management skills.
• Leadership and team development capabilities.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements in the UAE.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  
  

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in elevator maintenance or a related field.
• Experience in handling modernization and major repairs is preferred.
• Familiarity with leading elevator brands and control systems is an advantage.
  
  

• Submits invoices & follow up the payment to be released by the Client within reglementary period of not more than 30 days.
• Monitoring & making follow up for the Annual Maintenance Contract likewise maintaining the sales (quote), invoicing & payment collection.
• Prepares budget or costing sheet of each & every projects (PM Service, Repairs, Upgradation, Modernization & etc.).
• Ensure that finished work or any critical issue is accompanied with site written report or through email sent to Client/.
  
  

• Develops or adapts a suitable new brand of Lift spare parts like VF Variable Frequency Door Drive, VVVF Variable Voltage Variable Frequency for Lift Main Drive to replace those obsolete Elevator materials & interface into Lift Controller.
• Provides technical support, attends major callback, troubleshoots different brand of Lift Controller / Drive, programming of CPU's, & doing final adjustment on mechanical logic of Elevator mechanism for safe & smooth operation of the unit.
• Conducts safety Tool Box Talk *Check & verify individual time sheets of subordinates.
  
  

• Attends meeting with Client, analyze root causes for deviation & set up corrective action.
• Allocate suitable technical manpower to the site/s.
• Regular meeting & letter correspondence.
  
  

• Taken into service maintenance contract the other Brand of Lift Controller (Thyssen, Koney, Sigma, Schindler, Hyundai, Enova-SJEC, AL Futaim, Toshiba, etc.).
• Focuses on managing related projects, service contracts, spare parts, repairs, modernization & or upgradation job.
  
  

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  
  

• MS Word / Exel / Power Point / Lift software programming / SAP/Xpedeon/Oracle/Farnek/Vendor Cafe Portal / Software Programming / Communication skills / Critical Thinking / Problem solving / Read & analyze Lift skeletal wiring diagram / Lift Troubleshooting.
  
  

• Experience in software programming & troubleshooting of various Lift Drive & Controller of Traction Machine / Hydraulic with Machine Room or Machine Room less like Schindler Lift (Miconic V, Miconic TX, Miconic X) | Mitsubishi Lift (VFDL, VFEL) | Arcs Robotic from Singapore | GTS Asansor Lift from Turkey | Hidral Lift (Spain) | GMV (Italy) | Bucher Lift (Switzerland) | ASONG Controller / SJEC MONARCH (China).
• AGESMT - Service Engineer (Y-2020 to Present) | SESMT - Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Y-2005 to Y-2016) | Schindler Vietnam - Technical Supporter Engineer (Y-1998 to Y-2000) | Schindler Philippines - Project Engineer (Y-1991 to Y1998).
