Responsibilities
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Receive instruction from Design Manager / Mechanical Team Lead and prepare manufacturing drawings (General Arrangement, Assembly, Sub Assembly & Individual parts) for customized non-standard products based on project requirement in accordance with Tender, Specification, Drawing delivery dates etc. Create design which meet Vertiv quality requirements.
- Conduct Design Reviews on each step based on the Design Control Plan received from Project team. Review mechanical product submittals ensuring code compliance and adherence to Vertiv design standards.
- Keep a track and communicate BOM changes to Design Manager / Mechanical Team Lead and relevant project team.
- Communicate effectively with the Design Manager / Mechanical Team Lead with regards to some drawing and specification discrepancies to deliver quality drawings.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to resolve design issues during production and ensure smooth implementation of designs onto the shop floor.
- Define material specifications, finishes, and tolerances for Sheetmetal assemblies, sub-assemblies, and related components in accordance with Vertiv product standards.
- Complete each Project design on or before estimated date.
- Adhere to H&S guidelines and policy of the company while in the factory and at the site. Promote a safe working environment and report any hazards or near-miss incidents.
- Print what is necessary and reduce the usage of paper. Support Vertiv's sustainability initiatives by optimizing material usage in designs.
- Forward the drawing to Design Manager / Mechanical Team Lead to get drawing approval.
- Follow up for pending inputs from internal and external stakeholders. Make no assumptions; seek clarification and validate all design inputs before proceeding.
- Maintain clear, proactive, and transparent communication with the Design Manager, project teams, and all stakeholders at every stage of project execution.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and methodologies. Identify opportunities to reduce rework, improve design efficiency, and enhance product quality.
- Proactively identify potential risks and opportunities at every stage of project execution. Drive strategic opportunities, tool upgrades, time and error reduction initiatives.
- At project close out
- Ensure right-first-time drawing submissions with zero errors in design output.
- Proper updating of drawing locations for working and output files, ensuring easy access and retrieval.
