Position Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION
Vertiv is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our busbar engineered-to-order (ETO) team at our Ras Al Khaimah, UAE location. The Mechanical Design Engineer will report to the Design Manager and will work on the creation of accurate and detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for custom busbar assemblies and applications. This role will collaborate very closely with BIM Team, project managers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are compliant to agency and industry standards in addition to customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Receive instruction from Design Manager and prepare manufacturing drawings for customized non-standard products based on project requirement in accordance with Tender, Specification, Drawing delivery dates etc.
- Conduct Design Reviews on each step based on the Design Control Plan received from Project team.
- Keep a track and communicate BOM changes to Design Manager and relevant project team.
- Communicate effectively with the Design Manager with regards to some drawing and specification discrepancies to deliver quality drawings.
- Complete each Project design on or before estimated date.
- Adhere to H&S guidelines and policy of the company while in the factory and at the site.
- Print what is necessary and reduce the usage of paper.
- Forward the drawing to Design Manager to get drawing approval.
- Follow up with Design Manager for pending inputs and make no assumptions.
- Prepare site measurement based on input received from Design Manager.
- At project close out
- Maintain zero error in design.
- Update drawing locations of working and output files properly to Design Manager.

Qualifications
- Graduate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in a CAD drafting role, preferably ETO or custom fabrication environment.
- Proficient in 3D modeling and 2D drafting using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, sheet metal design, and structural components.
- Familiarity with fabrication methods, machining processes, and material selection.
- Understanding of manufacturing limitations for formed sheet metal, copper, and aluminum components.
- Experience working in an ETO, make-to-order (MTO), or custom manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and best practices for drafting technical drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM system required.
- Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism.
- Demonstrated history of delivering 3D CAD models and production drawings as part of an engineering team.
- Excellent communication skills.
