An ELV-FIRE ALARM Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of both residential and commercial properties by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems and other Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems. This expert is responsible for inspecting buildings to assess their fire alarm system needs, setting up and calibrating alarm systems to ensure maximum efficiency, and conducting regular maintenance checks to prevent any malfunctions or failures. The technician must possess a thorough knowledge of both the technical and regulatory aspects of fire alarm systems and be adept at working with various types of ELV systems, including security systems, access controls, and CCTV. Effective communication with clients and team members to discuss requirements and ensure compliance with safety standards is also essential for this role.


Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems efficiently in diverse locations.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for fire alarm systems.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local fire safety regulations and codes.
  • Inspect facilities to recommend necessary fire alarm system upgrades or changes.
  • Diagnose system malfunctions to identify and rectify components needing repair.
  • Document all installation and maintenance activities accurately for future reference.
  • Train clients and staff on the correct operation of fire alarm systems.
  • Coordinate with other technicians and team members to complete large projects.
  • Monitor inventory and request necessary tools and equipment in time.
  • Provide technical support and assistance in emergency fire scenarios.
  • Advise clients on system expansions to enhance fire protection coverage.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in fire alarm systems.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as an ELV or fire alarm technician is mandatory.
  • Deep understanding of electronic principles and fire safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with different ELV systems such as CCTV and access control.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are necessary.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
  • Certification in fire alarm systems installation and maintenance preferred.
