About the role:
Zutari is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Engineer to support the delivery of a major infrastructure projects in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design coordination, technical review, site support, and assurance of electromechanical systems across transport and infrastructure assets.
The role requires strong multidisciplinary coordination skills and practical experience in delivering safe, reliable, maintainable, and energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems within complex transport environments. The engineer will work closely with civil, structural, architectural, rail/transport systems, BIM, and project management teams, as well as client representatives, contractors, and specialist suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Support the review, and coordination of electromechanical systems for infrastructure projects, including stations, depots, tunnels, buildings, roads, utilities, and associated facilities.
Prepare and review mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire and life-safety, ventilation, drainage, pumping, and building-services design deliverables, as applicable to the project scope.
Develop technical specifications, design reports, calculations, drawings, schedules, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
Review contractor and supplier submissions, including shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, technical data sheets, testing plans, and commissioning documentation.
Coordinate MEP/electromechanical interfaces with civil, structural, architectural, systems, ICT, SCADA, utilities, and operations teams.
Support design assurance processes, including interdisciplinary design reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments, and technical approvals.
Ensure designs comply with applicable RTA requirements, Dubai regulations, UAE codes, international standards, project specifications, and approved design criteria.
Participate in site inspections, technical meetings, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, testing and commissioning, and handover activities.
Identify engineering risks, design clashes, constructability constraints, and operational-maintenance considerations early, and propose practical mitigations.
Support BIM-enabled delivery by coordinating electromechanical models and information requirements in line with ISO 19650 principles and project BIM execution plans.
Contribute to sustainable design outcomes through energy-efficient equipment selection, water conservation, lifecycle-cost considerations, resilience, and maintainability.
Prepare clear technical correspondence, reports, presentations, and responses to client or stakeholder comments.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to disciplined, quality-controlled engineering delivery.
Essential
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 7–10 years’ relevant experience in electromechanical/MEP engineering for major infrastructure, transportation, rail, metro, road, tunnel, station, depot, or building-services projects.
Demonstrable experience working on projects in the UAE or wider Middle East, ideally involving RTA, metro, rail, aviation, or public-sector infrastructure.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building-services systems and their interfaces within transport assets.
Experience in design review, construction support, contractor coordination, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
Familiarity with applicable UAE and Dubai authority requirements, as well as international standards such as IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS/EN, ASHRAE, CIBSE, and relevant ISO standards.
Proficiency in reviewing engineering drawings and models using relevant tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, and common document-management platforms.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred
Professional registration or chartership, such as CEng, PE, or equivalent recognised professional accreditation.
Experience with RTA design standards, approval processes, and stakeholder interfaces.
Experience in fire and life-safety systems, tunnel ventilation, pumping systems, power distribution, lighting, emergency power, ELV systems, or rail/transport facilities.
Knowledge of ISO 19650 information-management principles and coordinated BIM delivery.
Experience working in multidisciplinary design consultancy environments.
Arabic language capability is advantageous but not essential.
