Job Description

The Electrician Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting licensed electricians in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components. This hands-on position is essential for ensuring electrical tasks are completed efficiently and safely, following all regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is someone who is eager to learn, can follow detailed instructions, and demonstrates a strong commitment to safety protocols. This role demands physical stamina, as tasks often involve standing for long periods and working in various community settings, such as residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Proficiency in using basic hand tools and the ability to read and interpret technical diagrams is advantageous, along with good communication skills to assist in coordinating tasks effectively with the lead electrician and other team members.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation and replacement of electrical wiring and components per instructions.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure wiring and systems are safe and operational.
  • Help troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate, safe troubleshooting techniques.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
  • Support licensed electricians in adhering to safety standards and electrical codes.
  • Organize and manage project supplies and inventory for electrical work tasks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics under supervision.
  • Drive to various job sites, assisting in the transportation of necessary materials.
  • Ensure the work area is safe, organized, and free of hazards at all times.
  • Perform basic diagnostic tests and inspection of electrical systems as needed.
  • Communicate with clients, providing updates on work progress and addressing inquiries.
  • Promptly report any safety hazards or malfunctions to the supervising electrician.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
  • Previous experience or education in electrical systems or construction is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of basic electrical principles and safety practices.
  • Ability to work physically demanding tasks and in challenging environments.
  • Proficient in using basic tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, and wire strippers.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective teamwork.
  • Willingness to learn and engage in continuous professional development.
  • Attention to detail with an ability to follow instructions precisely.
