Essential Technical Knowledge – Automotive & Vehicle Electrical Systems
In-depth knowledge of automotive electrical engineering, including power distribution, control circuits, and integration of specialist fire fighting equipment.
Familiarity with applicable standards (BS, EN, ISO, UNECE, NFPA), vehicle safety regulations, and commercial vehicle homologation requirements.
Strong skills in interpreting technical documentation, component datasheets, and vehicle electrical architecture.
Proficient in using CAD software (such as solidworks, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar) and hands-on experience with design and simulation tools relevant to vehicle electrical systems.
Experience specifying wiring harnesses, connectors, fuses, relays, and control modules for harsh environments and emergency service applications.
Project Collaboration, Communication, and Stakeholder Engagement

Work collaboratively with sales, production, procurement, and external vehicle OEMs to coordinate design details, build schedules, and quality checks.
Support site visits, technical training, and troubleshooting at client premises, representing the business in a professional and assured manner.
Maintain concise and accurate records of design changes, test results, and compliance documentation to support vehicle certification and aftercare.
Qualifications and Experience – Electrical Design for Fire Fighting Trucks & Vehicle Engineering
Degree or recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline strongly preferred.
Minimum3 years’ experience in electrical design, ideally within the automotive, commercial vehicle, or emergency vehicle sectors.
Sound understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, component selection, and system integration methods relevant to fire fighting and rescue vehicles.
Advanced proficiency with CAD and digital design platforms as well as MS Office and project management tools.
