Job Description

Our guests’ safety and comfort always come first. That’s why we’re looking for a hands-on problem solver with a keen eye for detail and the skills to keep our hotel operating smoothly every single day. As Duty Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining our property’s high standards — ensuring everything runs efficiently, safely, and reliably for guests and colleagues alike.

A little taste of your day-to-day:

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

  • Performing routine maintenance and inspections across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities
  • Responding quickly to guest or team requests to repair or resolve maintenance issues
  • Assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Supporting energy conservation and sustainability initiatives through careful use of tools, materials, and utilities
  • Working closely with the engineering team and other departments to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone
  • Being flexible to react to unexpected challenges or urgent repair needs as they arise

What we need from you:

  • Diploma in electrical, mechanical, or building maintenance fields
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in general maintenance, facilities, or engineering — ideally within a hotel environment
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Relevant trade certifications or licenses (where required by law)
  • A professional attitude and commitment to delivering excellent guest service

What you can expect from us:

We’ll give you everything you need to succeed — from the right tools and training to a competitive salary and great benefits designed to help you thrive both at work and at home. Enjoy full uniform provision, room discounts across IHG Hotels & Resorts, and opportunities to learn and grow within a supportive, inclusive team.

At IHG, we welcome everyone. We celebrate diversity and encourage our colleagues to bring their true selves to work every day. We’re committed to building teams that reflect the world we live in — where everyone feels seen, supported, and inspired to make a difference.

Through our myWellbeing framework, we help you take care of your health, lifestyle, and workplace wellbeing — because we know that when you feel good, you do great work.

So, join us as a Duty Engineer and become part of a global family that gives you the room to belong, grow, and make an impact every day.

Dont quite meet every single requirement, but still believe youd be a great fit for the job? Well never know unless you hit the Apply button. Start your journey with us today.
