Position: Head – Commercial (GM)

Location: Dubai, UAE

Department: Commercial – EPC Projects

Industry: Power Transmission & Distribution / Substation EPC

Role Overview The Head – Commercial will be responsible for leading and managing all commercial functions related to EPC substation and power infrastructure projects. The role includes contract management, commercial strategy, project costing, claims management, billing, and financial risk control to ensure project profitability and compliance.

The position will support EPC projects involving AIS/GIS substations and EHV transmission systems (132kV / 220kV / 400kV) across international markets.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Project Financial Control

 Lead the commercial management of EPC substation and power infrastructure projects.

 Develop commercial strategies to ensure project profitability and cost control.

 Monitor project budgets, cash flow, and financial performance.

Contract Management

 Manage EPC contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements.

 Review contract terms, commercial risks, and legal obligations.

 Handle contract negotiations with clients, contractors, and suppliers.

Claims & Change Management

 Manage variation orders, claims, and contractual disputes.

 Ensure proper documentation for claims related to scope changes, delays, and additional works.

 Lead negotiations for claims settlement with clients and contractors.

Billing & Revenue Management

 Oversee project billing, invoicing, and collection processes.

 Ensure timely certification and recovery of payments from clients.

 Monitor project revenue recognition and financial reporting.

Tendering & Commercial Support

 Provide commercial inputs during EPC tendering and bid preparation.

 Evaluate commercial risks, contract terms, and pricing strategies.

 Support negotiation of large infrastructure and EPC contracts.

Team Leadership & Coordination

 Lead the commercial team including contracts, billing, and cost control functions.

 Coordinate with project management, procurement, finance, and legal teams.

 Provide strategic commercial guidance to senior management.

Qualification

 Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Commerce / Business Administration

 MBA or equivalent management qualification preferred

Experience

 18–25 years of experience in commercial management for EPC infrastructure or power sector projects.

 Strong experience handling substation EPC projects (132kV / 220kV / 400kV).

 International Project Experience Preferred.
