Eaton is seeking a highly organised and detail driven Engineering Document Controller to support the Data Centre Design and Engineering Team. This role is responsible for managing, controlling, and maintaining all engineering documentation and ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will coordinate document workflows, uphold document control standards, and enable efficient collaboration between engineering, tendering, project execution, and client teams.
What You’ll Do
Document Control & Management:
- Establish, implement, and maintain document control procedures aligned with internal standards and industry best practices.
- Manage the registration, storage, distribution, and revision control of all engineering documents, including drawings, specifications, reports, and schedules.
- Ensure proper formatting, naming conventions, version management, and metadata consistency across all controlled documents.
- Oversee the timely issuance, tracking, and retrieval of engineering deliverables.
Workflow Coordination
- Coordinate document workflows between design engineers, project managers, clients, and suppliers.
- Monitor review and approval cycles to ensure documents progress smoothly and meet project deadlines.
- Maintain controlled communication channels for document submissions, clarifications, and transmittals.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all documentation complies with internal procedures and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and organised documentation records.
- Maintain confidentiality and controlled access to sensitive engineering information.
Systems Administration
- Administer document control platforms and tools (e.g., SharePoint, BIM 360 ACC, Procore, or equivalent).
- Support users with system queries and ensure consistent application of document control protocols.
- Develop and maintain document control logs, registers, templates, and process documentation.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Generate regular reports covering document status, outstanding reviews, upcoming deliverables, and compliance metrics.
- Identify process inefficiencies and drive improvements in document control workflows.
- Promote best practices and support training for engineering teams on document control procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Electrical or Mechanical engineering degree
- Experience in Engineering Administration, Document Control, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of document control experience within an engineering, construction, or technical project environment.
Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in managing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of document control standards, workflows, and quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Proficiency with document control and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Procore, BIM 360/ACC, ProjectWise).
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisation, and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple document streams within tight deadlines.
