Job Title: Director of School Leadership
Position Function: Assist in providing full leadership coaching, development and support to identified Wichita Public Schools’ leaders.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Setting Direction and Making the Organization Work:
Coaches, supports and evaluates school administrators in implementing the school vision that aligns with student learning, the district’s vision and the strategic plan
Collaborates to develop, implement, and monitor the strategic plan which addresses district vision and student learning needs
Uses appropriate data and consultation with stakeholders to determine the allocation of resources to support the strategic plan and school goals
Leads strategic change that continuously improves the performance of schools and sustains high quality educational programs and opportunities
Supporting Student Growth and Development:
Establishes a collaborative learning environment by working with school and district leaders to celebrate district, school, and individual accomplishments in reaching student learning goals
Works collaboratively with district staff in building the leadership, culture, vision and supports for Wichita Public School student success that integrates culturally responsive leadership practices with CCSS and rigorous instructional opportunities. (Principal Supervision Standard 6)
Provides leadership in the strategic planning for School Improvement and the implementation of culturally and socially responsive leadership and instructional practices
Advancing Instructional Expertise
Leads professional learning to equip building administrators to know best practice instructional strategies to advance student learning
Empowers building administrators to make highly effective instructional, scheduling and course decisions based upon academic, behavior and other relevant data
Collaborates with curriculum and instructional staff to ensure current, relevant and mandated instructional resources are available to schools
Collaborates with building leaders to ensure that instructional guidelines are in place, teachers are following state standards and are implementing curriculum with fidelity
Collaborates and ensures their assigned schools are implementing the district wide assessment plan and making student instructional decisions based upon the data
Coaches and supports building administrators in expecting and monitoring rigorous and relevant teaching practices
Demonstrates the ability to develop and coach adult learning activities that impact student success, including academics, behavior, and attendance
Developing Staff:
Supervises, supports, coaches, and effectively evaluates school administrators under their responsibility
Analyzes district and school data to facilitate staffing needs, to establish needs based professional learning services, and utilize evaluation data to monitor the impact of professional learning on student learning and professional practice
The Director will collaborate and support the Division and work of the following staff/departments:
School Leaders
Other staff/duties which may be assigned by the Superintendent or Chief of Schools
Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by Supervisors.
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Must always comply with USD 259’s guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required.

Must be able to respond rapidly in emergency situations
Must have organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Work in central office and school building environments
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
Skill in organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Excellent skills in verbal and written communication
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Outlook and the student information system
Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality
Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance
Knowledge of companys mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them
Qualifications
Interrelations:
Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor to complete day to day tasks
Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service
Employee Punctuality And Appearance
For schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator
All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position
Qualification Profile
Current Kansas State Administrative District Level License
School administration experience
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related discipline applicable to assignment
