Job Summary:

The Director of Outside Catering Sales serves as the strategic leader responsible for driving revenue growth, market expansion, and overall business performance for the Outside Catering division at JW Marriott Marquis Dubai. This role is accountable for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy that positions the hotel as a market leader in the outside catering sector while ensuring alignment with Marriott International’s brand standards, service culture, and commercial objectives.

The Director leads all proactive sales efforts, focusing on business development, client acquisition, key account management, and revenue optimization across all catering segments. Through strategic selling, relationship management, market intelligence, and effective forecasting, the role ensures the achievement of annual revenue goals while maximizing profitability and market share.

A critical component of this position is the strong partnership and dotted-line relationship with the hotel’s operational leadership teams, including Culinary, Event Planning, Banquet Operations, Stewarding, and other event support functions. While the Director maintains full ownership of sales performance and customer acquisition, the success of the Outside Catering business is highly dependent on seamless collaboration with operations to ensure the successful planning, execution, and delivery of events.

The Director acts as the commercial voice of the customer while working closely with operational stakeholders to evaluate event feasibility, resource allocation, service delivery standards, and overall client satisfaction. This partnership ensures that all business opportunities sold can be executed efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with JW Marriott Marquis Dubai’s luxury service standards.

This role provides overall leadership, coaching, and direction for the Outside Catering Sales team, fostering a high-performing culture focused on accountability, customer engagement, and revenue generation. The Director is responsible for developing sales talent, establishing clear performance objectives, driving productivity, and creating succession plans to support long-term business success.

In addition, the Director is responsible for:

  • Developing and executing the strategic business plan for Outside Catering.
  • Identifying new market opportunities and emerging revenue streams.
  • Driving proactive sales activities to grow market share and brand presence.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key corporate, government, social, and event industry clients.
  • Leading pricing, negotiations, and commercial decision-making to maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Delivering accurate business forecasts, pipeline management, and performance reporting.
  • Collaborating closely with Operations leadership to ensure successful event execution and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Monitoring market trends, competitive activity, and customer insights to inform business strategies.
  • Ensuring all sales practices and customer interactions align with Marriott brand standards and service excellence expectations.

As the strategic business leader of the department, the Director shares accountability with Operations for the successful delivery of outside catering events and is expected to maintain a highly visible presence throughout the customer journey - from initial sales engagement through event execution and post-event relationship management. CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience:

  • More than 5 years of Outside Catering Sales, Events Operations or Planning Experience
  • More than 5 years of Experience Managing Others
  • Marriott sales experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of selling in outside catering sales is essential.
  • Fluent Arabic both oral and written is desirable but not essential.
  • Handling outside catering operation is desirable but not essential.

Skills And Knowledge

Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences in outside catering services.

Propose innovative ideas and solutions to enhance the quality and competitiveness of catering services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Risk Management and Revenue Generation:

Collaborate with the catering team to anticipate and address potential risks and challenges associated with catering events.

Encourage proactive risk-taking to identify opportunities for revenue growth and enhance the overall guest experience.
