Job Description

This position is designed for the academic leader who prefers to construct systems rather than observe them from the sidelines. You possess sufficient mastery of your discipline to recognize high-caliber learning when you see it, the rigor to translate that expertise into rubrics and AI-driven quality frameworks, and the pragmatism to respond quickly to imperfect data. Student improvement is your primary concern, and you are prepared to be evaluated on that basis.

2 Hour Learning pursues an objective that the broader software and education sectors seldom undertake. Teachers, textbooks, and the familiar scaffolding of traditional instruction are absent. AI serves as the operational foundation. In this capacity, you will deploy it to produce and refine learning materials, architect interventions, oversee quality assurance, and advance the platforms capabilities. The tempo resembles that of high-performance technology, consulting, or finance more than it does conventional schooling, and the return is full ownership of student outcomes for your subject area across all campuses.

This is a functional leadership role. You will construct AI-enabled enhancements to the learning ecosystem, launch targeted interventions informed by student performance indicators, develop evidence-backed decision documentation, and lead a team measured against explicit benchmarks tied to MAP, AP, SAT, and ISEE outcomes. You will also collaborate closely with product, engineering, and data science functions to articulate the platforms next requirements. This position suits someone who instinctively turns to AI, conducts their own analysis, delivers under uncertainty, and accepts complete accountability for results. It will not suit those who favor consensus-driven timelines, minimal oversight, or the security of established methodologies.

You will serve as a central leader within the academics function, wielding genuine authority over your subjects performance and the evolution of the broader learning infrastructure. Your colleagues will depend on your standards, your professional judgment, and your capacity to translate student data into actionable steps. If that prospect feels motivating rather than daunting, you are probably the candidate this role was designed for.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Learning Ecosystem Enhancements — AI-produced refinements to K–12 subject-specific learning experiences spanning content, adaptive learning pathways, and student-facing interventions, shaped by student feedback, platform analytics, assessment outcomes, and coaching observations.
  • Data-Driven Academic Interventions — Focused intervention strategies for underperforming students or cohorts, informed by MAP, AP, SAT, ISEE, and comparable performance metrics.
  • Student Performance Decision Records — Scalable, evidence-grounded decisions that document actions taken to improve student performance, backed by dashboards, analytical tools, support tickets, survey responses, coaching conversations, and assessment results.
  • Learning Ecosystem Improvement Specs — Actionable specifications for product, engineering, and data science teams, encompassing problem definitions, corroborating evidence, anticipated student outcomes, and acceptance criteria.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Repackaging traditional education in an AI wrapper. This is not about duplicating classroom-based teaching through digital screens – we are fundamentally reconceiving learning from first principles.
  • Analyzing data in isolation. Regular engagement with K-12 students will be expected, with their feedback treated as critical input from our paying customers.
  • Waiting for consensus to push boundaries. You will advocate for an ambitious vision and mobilize others through data-driven outcomes.
  • Sticking to conventional methods. You will have latitude to explore novel approaches to motivation, assessment, and pedagogy.
  • Fearing AIs impact on education. In this environment, you will leverage AI as a transformative instrument for reimagining learning, not as a risk to be managed.

Director Of Learning Key Responsibilities

Lead innovation in AI-driven, teacher-less education to achieve outstanding student outcomes across multiple campus locations. Integrate data analytics with consistent student interaction to iteratively refine our learning ecosystem, as evidenced by AP exam results and MAP assessment growth metrics.

Basic Requirements

  • Masters degree or higher in Educational Science, Learning Science, Psychology, Psychometrics, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in academic or EdTech leadership roles, with direct people management responsibility (hiring, performance evaluation, coaching, termination decisions)
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools as part of day-to-day professional workflows, and willingness to rely on AI extensively to improve academic and operational outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of learning science principles, such as Cognitive Load Theory and Mayers Multimedia Principles, and data-driven educational approaches
