Job Purpose: Support the development and implementation of comprehensive privacy, data protection, AI and IP governance frameworks across the organization. Drive pragmatic, cost-effective compliance solutions while ensuring services, products, and projects meet regulatory requirements. Challenge existing processes and structures to create efficient, modern compliance approaches that enable business innovation within appropriate risk parameters.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Proactive Leadership: Proactively drive and champion enterprise-wide privacy, data protection, AI and IP compliance initiatives, anticipating challenges and opportunities while balancing regulatory requirements with business objectives
Product & Service Compliance: Ensure all services, products, and projects incorporate privacy-by-design principles and meet applicable data protection and AI governance requirements from inception through deployment
Process Innovation: Proactively identify and challenge outdated compliance processes, designing creative solutions that streamline operations while maintaining regulatory standards
Independent Execution: Drive initiatives autonomously with minimal supervision, taking ownership of complex compliance challenges and delivering practical solutions
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with UAE Data Protection Law, GDPR, and other applicable privacy regulations across all jurisdictions where the company operates
AI Governance: Maintain and continuously improve existing AI governance frameworks, identifying gaps and implementing enhancements to ethical AI principles, risk assessment protocols, and compliance mechanisms
IP and Innovation:Maintain and continuously improve existing IP and Innovation policies, procedures and frameworks, including trademark management, IP protection and interface with the respective outside counsels
Pragmatic Problem-Solving: Design and implement cost-effective compliance solutions that minimize business disruption while ensuring robust protection
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Technology, Product, Risk, Audit, and business units to embed privacy and AI compliance into operations and new initiatives
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate privacy and AI-related risks through practical controls and monitoring mechanisms
Incident Response: Lead privacy incident and data breach response efforts, including regulatory notifications and stakeholder communications
Regulatory Support: Support the Chief Legal Officer and Group Head of Privacy, Data Protection, AI and IP in regulatory engagements, preparing submissions and technical documentation for data protection authorities
Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver privacy, AI and IP compliance training programs tailored to different organizational levels
Vendor Management: Oversee privacy, AI and IP compliance aspects of third-party relationships, including data processing agreements and vendor assessments
Innovation Enablement: Provide practical legal guidance on emerging technologies, ensuring compliant deployment of AI, IoT, and other data-intensive initiatives
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelors degree in law (LLB), Bar admission
Advanced degree, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, AI certifications
4+ years privacy/data protection law; AI compliance expertise; proven independent work ability; process improvement experience, medium level of IP expertise.
8+ years for Director-level; telecom/tech industry; law firm and in-house background for privacy, AI and IP.
