Seeking a Director, Commercial Counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as strategic business partner to the assigned brand team and the market access team.
  • Provide legal support as a key member of the review committees for promotional materials and medical materials for the assigned brand team.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate complex payer, pharmacy and distributor agreements, including agreements with commercial and government payers, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), group purchasing organizations (GPOs), retail, specialty and long-term care pharmacies, and wholesalers and specialty distributors.
  • Interpret and apply federal and state laws, such as the FDCA, false claims act, anti-kickback statute, and laws and regulations relating to the Medicaid, Medicare, 340B and Veterans Health (VA) Care programs.
  • Partner with Compliance to assist and counsel in developing policies, procedures, legal guidance documents, tools and training materials.
  • Develop deep knowledge of Alkermes’ business and evolving legal and regulatory landscape impacting the assigned brand and market access.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years’ experience in the bio/pharma life sciences department of a leading law firm and/or an in-house corporate position.
  • Strong technical background in the commercialization of biotechnology/pharmaceutical products.
  • Experience with FDA regulations, federal anti-kickback, and false claims act statutes and/or contracting with private payors and government healthcare programs, including Medicaid, Medicare, VA, and 340B program.
  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated ability to independently identify practical legal solutions to challenges, and to work effectively in matrixed environments.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills to convey complex legal & business concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and in accordance with Alkermes’ values.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school

Alkermes has recently adopted a hybrid working environment to support and meet the needs of employees and this role will operate in a flexible environment with 60% of time in the office and 40% from home. This position is eligible for the hybrid workplace model, requiring work to be completed onsite at our Waltham, MA office at least 3 days per week. This role is not eligible for fully remote work.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $223,000 - $255,000. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus.
