We are looking for Development Manager Southeast Asia (SEA) - Melia Hotels International


Mission of the position:

To implement the strategic plan of Expansion, to ensure the incorporation of Hotels to the company following the guidelines and objectives set by the Strategic Plan, to ensure the growth objectives defined therein, both qualitative and quantitative (number of Hotels, Rooms and EBITDA contributed).


Main functions:

  • Pro-active search and analysis of new opportunities for Hotels, built or under construction, in the assigned area, for incorporation into the Company in the form of: management, franchise, leasing and JVC, always in accordance with the strategic plan set by area.
  • Negotiations with internal partners (and in particular with the VP Operations) on each project and analysis of its viability.
  • Key functional contact with the VP Operations by assigned zones.
  • Presentation to internal partners of projects considered viable for approval and definition of next steps.
  • Prioritisation of projects according to the strategy set by VP Development and VP Operations based on the strategic expansion plan.
  • In accordance with the negotiation policy set for each project: (i) direct management of negotiations with the owners, until closure and/or (ii) support for negotiations led by VP Development.
  • Preparation of the necessary documentation for the approval of projects before the Expansion Committee.
  • Create a strong network of contacts in the assigned area to promote growth in the area according to the expansion map.
  • Representing the company.
  • Constant analysis of the market in the assigned area in order to detect potential growth markets and promote the growth of the brands based on the strategic growth plan.


What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in positions with high content in negotiation and closing processes.
  • Working in a multinational environment, preferably in hotel or real estate companies or consultancies specialised in the hotel sector, which allows specific knowledge of key success factors for a hotel (location, economic magnitudes...).
  • Degree in Law, Economics, Tourism, Hospitality, Real State, etc.
  • Specific knowledge:
  • Numerical, legal, operational
  • Negotiation and representation
  • Computer programmes: High level Office. New technologies
  • Bilingual level of English and Thai
