Job Description

The Desktop Support Technician is a key role within the Information Technology department, responsible for maintaining and supporting computer systems and networks to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently. This position involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up and configuring new systems, and providing technical support to end-users. The Desktop Support Technician will work closely with IT managers and other team members to implement new technology, upgrade existing systems, and ensure all company computing resources are optimized for performance. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.


Responsibilities

  • Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
  • Provide on-site or remote technical support to respond to client and end-user issues.
  • Set up user accounts, permissions, and passwords in accordance with company protocols.
  • Assist in the maintenance and inventory management of hardware and software resources.
  • Conduct regular system checks and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals for future reference.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to ensure continuous service delivery.
  • Assist with the procurement and deployment of hardware and software as needed.
  • Collaborate with IT support staff and teams to improve technical support operations.
  • Provide training and resources to users to improve their understanding of systems.
  • Stay updated with the latest technology trends and solutions applicable to the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a desktop support role.
  • Proficiency with Windows and macOS operating systems and their troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose technical issues quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with network configurations and user account management.
