Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Desktop Support Engineer to join our IT team. As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing first-class technical support to our internal users, ensuring their desktop systems, software, and peripherals are operating optimally. You will handle a variety of technical issues, including troubleshooting hardware and software malfunctions, performing system upgrades, and maintaining workstation security. Your critical thinking and problem-solving skills will be an asset to ensure smooth IT operations within the organization. You will work closely with other IT team members and possess excellent communication skills to effectively manage and resolve technical issues for users of varying technical expertise.


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for hardware and software problems.
  • Set up, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop computers across the organization.
  • Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems as required.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform regular system maintenance checks and updates to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist with the deployment and management of mobile devices and related technologies.
  • Coordinate with vendors for warranty repairs and to procure replacement parts as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all hardware, software, and peripheral devices in inventory.
  • Respond promptly to incoming support tickets and document resolutions in the tracking system.
  • Conduct training sessions for users to educate them on using new software and hardware.
  • Collaborate with network and systems administrators to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ensure data backups are performed regularly and recovery processes are effective.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in desktop support or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, including Windows and macOS platforms.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a networked environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for user support interactions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative IT team.
  • Experience with mobile device management, including smartphones and tablets.
  • Familiarity with remote support tools and IT service management software.
