Design Manager Building Services Retail Experience Mandatory

Job Description

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Design Manager – Building Services with mandatory retail project experience to lead and manage the design and delivery of complex building services projects. This role is ideal for professionals experienced in managing Building Services (MEP) projects and coordinating with wider project disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver multidisciplinary building projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
• Take full accountability for project performance, including timelines, cost control, financial profitability, risk management, and compliance with governance processes.
• Utilize strong design and construction expertise to deliver high‑quality, best‑in‑class technical solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with MEP, structural, and other disciplines, including the management of sub‑consultants and external partners.
• Develop, implement, and manage detailed project programs, monitoring progress and addressing risks proactively.
• Lead project teams to achieve client expectations and contractual deliverables within agreed deadlines.
• Manage design changes, scope variations, and approvals in line with internal and client processes.
• Act as a key point of contact for Property & Buildings, engaging with clients, internal stakeholders, local authorities, and architectural partners.
• Support regional business growth and diversification initiatives, particularly within the Middle East market.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction, or Architecture.
• Minimum 10+ years post-qualification experience.
• Mandatory experience in medium to large-scale retail projects.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate design teams of 30+ engineers/designers.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
• Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary projects and managing sub-consultants.
• Ability to engage with demanding clients and communicate technical matters across disciplines.
