Job Description

We are seeking expressions of interest from Crew Managers who will be responsible for the management and performance of his crew in the provision of 24/7 Rescue & Firefighting Services (RFFS), including but not limited to: the provision of ARFF services to designated airfield to the specified International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Category, including civilian and military aircraft, provide SRFF services in response to incidents, including fire, building and facility emergencies, storms, gas leaks, burst water mains, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials and de-contamination tasks.


Key Accountabilities

  • Assumes the role of Sector Commander/Bronze Commander
  • Leads/Manages the crew of his assigned vehicle or equipment in the performance of all firefighting, rescue or other required duties, both structural and/or aviation.
  • Directs the positioning of his/her vehicle, the deployment of his crew and equipment and manages tasks in response to emergency incidents.
  • Responsible for operation of his vehicles radio communications and for coordination with other emergency services vehicles.
  • Responsible for all communication with the control tower and fire control room for all necessary clearances, instructions and incident information.
  • Supervises the vehicle replenishment of water and agent/media tanks.
  • Assists in the ongoing fire training of RFFS and ADF base personnel as required.
  • Supervises the daily operational serviceability, vehicle and equipment checks.
  • Reports vehicle and equipment status including defects requiring attention to Watch Manager.
  • Manages daily station duties to maintain a clean and safe working environment.


Specific Requirements

Essential Technical and Professional Skills

  • Five to Ten (5-10) years’ experience in fire/rescue services including three (3) years in a supervisory position at an ICAO Category six (6) airfield or above.
  • Additional fire/rescue work experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years formal education in the ratio of two (2) years’ experience to one (1) years education.
  • Must be a FVEY national and passport holder


Qualifications

The Crew Manager must hold all qualifications required for the Firefighter/Driver role, together with the applicable Crew Manager qualifications for their FVEY country.

Australia

The applicant must hold:

  • PUA30619 Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting & Emergency Operations); or
  • PUA30719 Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations).
  • Must hold all qualifications required for Firefighter/Driver.
  • PUAFIR305 – Respond to Aviation Incidents (General) – must contain or have a Statement of Attainment; and/or
  • PUAFIR205 – Respond to Aviation Incidents (Specialist).
  • PUAOPE012 – Control a Level 1 Incident – must contain or have a Statement of Attainment.
  • PUAOPE015 – Conduct Briefings and Debriefings – must contain or have a Statement of Attainment.
  • PUATEA003 – Lead, Manage and Develop Teams – must contain or have a Statement of Attainment.
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – desirable.

United Kingdom

The applicant must hold:

  • Crew Commander – Incident Command Initial (ICAO/CAA); or recognised equivalent.
  • Must hold all qualifications required for Firefighter/Driver.
  • Relevant crew leadership and incident command competency.
  • The contract identifies Crew Commander Incident Command Initial (ICAO/CAA) within the UK pathway.

United States

The applicant must hold:

  • NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I & II.
  • NFPA 472/1072 HAZMAT Technician.
  • NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I & II.
  • NIMS ICS 300 / 400
  • Must hold all qualifications required for Firefighter/Driver.
  • Training Delivery qualification – desirable.

Canada

The applicant must hold:

  • NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I & II.
  • NFPA 472/1072 HAZMAT Technician.
  • NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I & II.
  • NIMS ICS 300 / 400
  • Must hold all qualifications required for Firefighter/Driver.

New Zealand

The applicant must hold:

  • Firefighter Intermediate Urban & Vegetation – NZQA National Certificate Level 3.
  • Firefighter Intermediate Aviation – NZQA National Certificate Level 3.
  • Crew Commander – Incident Command Initial.
  • Crew Leadership.
  • Must hold all qualifications required for Firefighter/Driver.
