Credit Underwriting Manager Digital SME Lending

Job Purpose:

We are hiring an experienced Credit Underwriting Manager to lead underwriting for small business credit cards and loans in a digital banking environment. The role requires strong credit judgment, hands-on underwriting expertise, and deep understanding of digital lending processes and system implementation.

Principal Accountabilities:



Underwrite and approve small business credit cards and loan products in line with credit policy and risk appetite

Continuously improve turnaround time, approval rates, and customer experience through automation and analytics

Design, review, and enhance underwriting frameworks, scorecards, and credit policies

Oversee end-to-end digital credit journeys, including automated and semi-automated decisioning

Monitor portfolio performance, early warning indicators, and policy effectiveness

Support audits, regulatory reviews, and governance requirements

System Implementation & Digital Capabilities

Lead and contribute to the implementation and enhancement of end‑to‑end digital lending systems for SME credit cards and loans

Translate credit policy and underwriting requirements into system rules, scorecards, and decision engines

Partner with Technology, Product, Data, and Operations teams to design scalable, straight‑through processing journeys

Define and validate credit rules, automated decisioning logic, exception handling, and manual review workflows

Support UAT, pilot launches, and post‑implementation tuning of credit systems

Ensure systems support regulatory, audit, and risk governance requirements (controls, overrides, reporting)

Requirements:

Education And Experience

Bachelor degree

Minimum 10 years of experience in small business lending and credit underwriting

Proven expertise in underwriting business credit cards and secured/unsecured SME loans

Strong understanding of digital lending platforms, workflow automation, and credit systems

Experience in policy development, risk controls, and portfolio management

Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced digital bank environment
