Job Description

As a Credit Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing the company’s credit management function. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the company receives timely payments for goods and services offered to clients. You will be tasked with assessing the creditworthiness of potential customers, creating credit scoring models, setting up the terms and conditions of credit, and managing the collection of outstanding invoices. Working closely with the sales and accounting departments, you will support their operations by ensuring a seamless flow of credit-related information and maintain good customer relationships to promote payment practices and reduce bad debts. This position requires excellent negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of financial and accounting concepts.


Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and process applications for credit and determine credit limits.
  • Monitor payment patterns and proactively address potential payment issues.
  • Establish credit policies and ensure adherence to company guidelines.
  • Deliver detailed monthly reports pertaining to credit activities and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with sales and finance teams to improve cash flow management.
  • Negotiate with clients regarding payment plans and overdue invoices.
  • Use accounting software to track outstanding balances and invoice statuses.
  • Maintain accurate records of all credit agreements and collection activities.
  • Handle queries related to non-payment and resolve disputes efficiently.
  • Review existing accounts for credit adjustments or limits regularly.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate financial risks associated with credit.
  • Work with external collection agencies when necessary to recover debts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
  • Proven experience working as a Credit Controller or similar role.
  • Familiarity with financial software and accounting tools is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving capabilities required.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to handle clients.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
