Job Description

A Cost Controller plays a vital role within an organization’s finance department to maintain and improve the company’s financial health. They focus on ensuring that the systems and processes are in place to monitor costs effectively and ensure efficient operation within budgets. As a Cost Controller, you will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and managing all financial aspects related to business expenses, resources usage, and overall expenditure. You’ll work closely with project managers and other financial professionals to prepare financial reports, forecasts, and detailed cost analysis. This role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders effectively. Strong knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency in budgeting and financial management are essential to perform successfully in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cost control processes to support company budgeting goals.
  • Monitor and analyze project budgets to ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports on cost performance for management review.
  • Work closely with project teams to forecast costs and assess project profitability.
  • Conduct audits and reviews to ensure financial compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in preparing financial data for auditing and regulatory compliance purposes.
  • Evaluate and report on wasteful spending and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to manage cost-effective purchasing practices.
  • Implement and maintain a cost database to enhance tracking and decision-making.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on cost management and financial reporting.
  • Prepare variance analysis reports to highlight discrepancies and suggest corrections.
  • Support senior management with in-depth financial analysis for strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience in cost control or financial management in a similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey financial information effectively.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced spreadsheet skills are essential.
  • Strong understanding of cost control principles and budgeting techniques.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
