Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Anesthesiologist to join a leading healthcare facility. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive anesthesia and perioperative care for patients undergoing elective and emergency surgical procedures, while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluate patients medical and surgical history.
  • Develop individualized anesthesia plans based on the patients condition, procedure, and clinical requirements.
  • Administer general, regional, and local anesthesia according to clinical expertise.
  • Monitor patients continuously during surgical procedures and manage anesthesia-related complications.
  • Perform advanced airway management, including endotracheal intubation and difficult airway management.
  • Provide regional anesthesia and nerve blocks where appropriately qualified.
  • Manage critically ill and high-risk surgical patients in collaboration with ICU and surgical teams.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care and manage acute postoperative pain.
  • Respond to perioperative emergencies, cardiac arrest, and other critical situations.
  • Perform procedures such as central venous access and arterial line placement where qualified.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, emergency physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records, patient documentation, and clinical notes.
  • Supervise and mentor Specialist Anesthesiologists, residents, and junior medical staff where required.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality meetings, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare authority regulations, hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
  • Participate in on-call duties and emergency anesthesia coverage as required.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • MD / DNB / FRCA / FCAI / Arab Board / American Board or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification in Anesthesiology.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience, including significant Consultant-level experience.
  • Strong experience in general, regional, and emergency anesthesia.
  • Experience managing high-risk surgical and critically ill patients is preferred.
  • Current ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a high-acuity multidisciplinary healthcare team.
