Job Description

A Computer Operator is responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of computer systems, networks, and peripheral equipment. This role is pivotal within IT departments as it involves monitoring and controlling electronic computer systems and peripherals for processing data. As a Computer Operator, you will work closely with technical teams to identify issues, ensure data processing accuracy, and maintain system integrity. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can quickly adapt to changing technology and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently. The success of a Computer Operator lies in their capability to work under pressure, accurately follow procedures, and communicate effectively with team members and other departments within the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the operation of mainframe and personal computers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of data within computer systems.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and coordinate resolution.
  • Operate command languages to load and install software updates.
  • Maintain records of hardware operational activities and perform regular maintenance.
  • Monitor system alerts and outages, taking corrective measures immediately.
  • Oversee the operation of all peripheral equipment for smooth functionality.
  • Coordinate with the IT department for system performance optimization.
  • Provide first-level support for technical issues reported by end-users.
  • Document and report incidents and resolutions for future reference.
  • Execute backup and recovery protocols to protect data integrity.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of technical procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; higher education is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Computer Operator or similar technical role.
  • Strong understanding of computer operating systems and networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve both hardware and software issues.
  • Proficiency in using computer monitoring and management tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and respond to on-call emergencies.
