As a African-native Community Manager, you live and breathe local culture. You will take charge of Africa’s social touchpoints for a major global destination partner, cultivating deep brand affinity among regional travelers.
While community management is core, this scope extends into channel oversight, cultural intelligence, and KOL (key opinion leader) management. Your market expertise directly steers creative output beyond standard engagement. You will serve as the internal authority whenever teams evaluate regional resonance.
You’ll work closely with our content, creative, strategy and influencer teams, as well as the partner’s market leads.
What You’ll Do
Channel Management: Oversee daily operations across African handles, managing content calendars, scheduling, and distribution while maintaining strict adherence to brand standards, platform specifications, and partner sign-offs
Cultural Localisation: Tailor global narratives for African audiences across captions, formats, and posting cadences. Partner with internal creative teams to brief and refine bespoke assets that resonate locally
Community Engagement: Drive real-time conversations across inbound comments, messages, and mentions aligned with brand voice. Transform reactive exchanges and user-generated content into proactive storytelling opportunities
Brand Stewardship: Track audience sentiment continuously, identifying risks early and executing crisis management protocols when necessary. Distill recurring community sentiment into strategic updates for internal and partner stakeholders
Cultural Intelligence: Serve as the authority on African consumer habits, emerging digital behaviors, and local nuances. Maintain an active cultural calendar covering seasonal moments, while monitoring regional travel competitors
Actionable Insights: Transform data into actionable content strategies through monthly reporting. Inject regional intelligence into campaign strategy, creative briefs, and new business initiatives
KOL Ecosystem: Develop and manage a comprehensive database of African talent, tracking performance metrics, audience demographics, commercial rates, and contact history while scouting fresh voices
Creator Contracting: Lead creator negotiation, contract execution, and briefing processes alongside legal and influencer units. Review deliverables prior to release while cultivating long-term partner relationships
Performance Reporting: Deliver weekly and monthly analytics detailing platform, community, and campaign performance. Refine output based on data trends and provide strategic talent recommendations for future activations
What You’ll Bring
Proven Experience: 2–5 years steering community management or social channels, ideally agency-side or within travel, tourism, and lifestyle sectors
Cultural Roots: Lived, firsthand understanding of African, encompassing local media landscapes, cultural dynamics, and regional travel planning habits
Linguistic Fluency: Native or near-native proficiency in African language alongside strong professional written and verbal English
KOL Mastery: Hands-on background managing influencer activations, from initial creator discovery through rate negotiations and briefing
Social Native: Expert command of key platforms across Africa including Instagram, TikTok, and relevant regional networks
Strategic Ideation: Demonstrated capability to translate performance metrics and real-time trends into high-impact creative concepts
Creative Execution: Sharp editorial instincts and strong aesthetic judgment across social copy and visual storytelling
Operational Rigor: Highly organized with a track record of navigating complex stakeholder approvals and tight publishing deadlines
Cultural Curiosity: Innate ability to spot emerging conversations and cultural shifts in African before they enter the mainstream
Commercial Acumen: A clear understanding of how to articulate business value and return on investment for creator partnerships
Crisis Resilience: Composed demeanor when managing live audience interactions and fast-moving brand moments under pressure
Bonus points for
Tourism Background: Prior agency or in-house experience supporting a destination marketing organization or national tourism board
Regional Expertise: Deep, nuanced understanding of Dubai and the wider UAE tourism landscape
Tech Stack: Hands-on experience with enterprise social management, publishing, and intelligence platforms like Sprinklr, Brandwatch, Meltwater, or Later
Established Network: An active, well-maintained roster of key creators and digital talent throughout Africa
