The purpose of this position is to supervise and lead a line maintenance team to provide comprehensive Engineering and Maintenance services covering the Communications system for Dubai Metro.
Main Responsibilities
Lead a team of Communications technicians to carry out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance and minor modifications activities on communications system covering Multi- Service Network (MSN), Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV),Passenger Information System (PIS) & Public Address System (PAS), Time Domain System(TDS), Digital Voice & Video Recording System (DVVR), Intrusion Alarm System (IAS), On-Board Communication System (OBS), Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) and Operation Control System(OCS).
Supervise the installation, servicing and repairing of communications systems located in operations control centre, signalling equipment room, station signalling equipment rooms, depot signalling equipment rooms, along trackside and on-board trains.
Ensure the team uses proper hand, machine, electrical and electronic tools and reference to technical drawings, signalling schematics, manuals, procedures and instructions when performing repair and maintenance work.
Supervise the replacement of faulty communications equipment, handover/taken back to the electronics workshop for repair.
Knowledge and competence in technical standards will be regularly assessed.
Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of communications system and equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
Ensure the maintenance tools and equipment are in good condition.
Provide technical support to other staff for the implementation of complex systems or new projects.
Conduct performance review for Communications Technicians.
Assist the Communications Engineer in conducting disciplinary and grievance for Communications Technicians.
Assist subordinates with the job familiarization and to provide training and assessment where required.
Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
Prepare technical investigation report on faults that have impact to service and KPI.
Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Communications Engineer.
Awareness of the Integrated Management System and the content of the Health, Safety, Quality & Environment and Information Security Policy Statements.
Understanding of personal responsibilities and contribution to achieving compliance with the Integrated Management System requirements, (including but not limited to competence to perform safety critical roles, legal requirements, control measures arisen from environmental impacts and aspects, job safety analysis and information security risk assessment) and the potential consequences of departure from the arrangements in place to deliver the commitments stated in the policies statements above.
To exercise a personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions.
To use safety equipment (including PPE) as required and intended and observe that this is also enforced among subcontractors and third parties working in Keolis-MHI’s controlled premises/systems.
Promote a good HSQE and Information Security culture among their peers, subcontractors and third parties.
Lead by example and look at ways to conserve energy, water and resources and minimise the generation of waste through personal performance and raise recommendations on how to improve existing processes on this regard within/outside their departments through their Line.
Manager, Departmental Safety Meetings and any other appropriate available channels.
Protect information assets and data including both electronic and paper based from all threats whether internal, external, deliberate or accidental.
Promote a good HSQE and Information Security culture among their peers.
Subcontractors and third parties.
Knowledge Required
Good knowledge of basic electronics and communications principles for electrical, electronics, communications, SCADA, Access control system, Fiber Optics, Radio communication and IT systems.
Good knowledge and experience in Windows, Unix/Linux, Database, storage systems and networking will be added advantage.
Key Skills
Thorough understanding of the use, calibration and care of various electronic test equipment and ability to interpret instructions in a variety of written, verbal, pictorial forms in order to carry out the maintenance activities as required.
Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision.
Strong analytical mind, and ability to grasp the complexity of a software based signalling and train control system.
Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Preferably a holder of a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience.
Experience
Work experience as a qualified electrical or electronics technician in maintaining and repairing communication systems covering radio system, telephone system.
Multi-service fibre optic network, public address system, CCTV system, passenger information system, SCADA and operations control systems, is highly preferable.
Preferably with supervisory experience in supervising a team of technicians in carrying out maintenance activities.
EDUCATIONAL & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFCATIONS
Vocational trade certificate or ordinary diploma in Computer, electrical, electronic or communication engineering discipline or equivalent.
