Job Description

A Commis III in the pastry kitchen plays a fundamental role in all culinary preparations and presentations. As an entry-level position, a Commis III collaborates closely with more senior chefs, providing essential support in crafting pastries, desserts, and baked goods with precision and creativity. This position involves assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of a variety of pastry products while observing strict hygiene and safety standards. The ideal candidate is highly passionate about pastry arts, eager to learn, and willing to undertake any task to ensure the pastry kitchen runs smoothly. Working under the supervision of senior staff, a Commis III is expected to continuously develop their skills and contribute to the kitchen team's success through effective teamwork, attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining quality and consistency in all finished products.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing a wide variety of pastries and desserts according to recipes.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation following health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with senior chefs to plan and develop new pastry items and concepts.
  • Measure and mix ingredients with precision to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Prepare basic components of each dish efficiently and accurately according to instructions.
  • Handle and store ingredients and products properly to maintain freshness and prevent deterioration.
  • Assist in monitoring stock levels and informing supervisors of low stock or shortages.
  • Ensure all pastry products are of the highest order, both in taste and presentation.
  • Contribute to maintaining an efficient kitchen environment by completing daily cleaning tasks.
  • Assist in training new staff as required to acquaint them with kitchen operations.
  • Execute tasks assigned by senior chefs with minimal supervision and maximum reliability.
  • Communicate effectively within the team to ensure smooth kitchen operations and service delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary education is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of pastry art and culinary fundamentals is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment or pastry role advantageous.
  • Ability to take direction and work collaboratively within a team dynamic.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for pastry and culinary arts.
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina to withstand a high-paced environment.
  • Capability to manage time efficiently and maintain productivity under pressure.
