Job Description

Join our culinary team as a Commis I specializing in South Indian Cuisine in the vibrant city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to assist in the preparation and cooking of authentic South Indian dishes in our bustling kitchen.

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for South Indian dishes, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring
  • Support senior chefs in cooking and plating South Indian specialties
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment properly
  • Follow recipes and cooking instructions accurately
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and service
  • Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning and sanitation tasks
  • Learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and recipes
  • Contribute to a positive and teamwork-oriented kitchen environment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school diploma or certificate preferred
  • Knowledge of South Indian cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques
  • Proficiency in knife skills and food preparation techniques
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices; food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) preferred
  • Basic math skills for recipe measurements and conversions
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field
  • Knowledge of local food regulations and standards in Dubai
  • Ability to work legally in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Additional Information

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the same or similar role
  • Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
