Job Description

As a Commis I - Pastry, you are responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Pastry Kitchen, including the preparation and production of high-quality bakery and pastry items. Uphold the standards, procedures, and service excellence of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts while assisting the team in delivering exceptional guest experiences.

What You Will Be Doing

• Maintain and enforce high hygiene, food safety, and sanitation standards across the pastry section in line with HACCP.
• Support and take responsibility for the pastry section in the absence of the immediate supervisor, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
• Produce a wide range of bakery and pastry items including breads, cakes, desserts with consistency and quality.
• Ensure all food is prepared and presented according to approved menu specifications, recipes, portion control, and visual standards.
• Organize the section as per the Outlet Chef’s operational plan, ensuring effective workflow and readiness for service, banquets, room service, and events.
• Practice effective inventory control, including par stock management, requisitioning, proper storage, and participation in inventory counts to minimize wastage and control costs.
• Assist in quality control, equipment maintenance monitoring, and adherence to standardized pastry facility and product sanitation standards.
• Actively participate in training, production schedules and team coordination while maintaining a professional relationship with the team.
  
  

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

• 2–3 years of proven pastry and bakery experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate a pastry team.
• Highly creative and passionate about pastry arts, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
• Skilled in recipe costing, portion control, and maintaining consistency in production.
