Job Description

As a Commis Chef Pastry, you will embark on an exciting culinary journey within our dedicated pastry kitchen. You'll be an integral part of our pastry brigade, working alongside our experienced chefs to create delightful and innovative pastry dishes. This role involves assisting with daily pastry preparations, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation, and adhering to culinary standards. Responsibilities

  • Assist the pastry chef with the preparation and execution of pastry dishes.
  • Ensure all food products are accurately prepared and presented consistently.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation within the pastry section.
  • Contribute to new pastry menu ideas, creativity, and innovation initiatives.
  • Assist in the daily cleaning of kitchen workspaces and equipment used in pastry preparations.
  • Support inventory checks and assist with ordering necessary pastry ingredients and supplies.
  • Carefully follow recipes and standards set by the head pastry chef.
  • Assist in plating desserts for service in an attractive and timely manner.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance personal skills and development in pastry techniques.
  • Help monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients used in all pastry preparations.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth service flow.
  • Assist with setting up and managing pastry production for special events or occasions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a professional pastry kitchen is preferred.
  • Culinary certification or a diploma in pastry arts is advantageous though not mandatory.
  • Possess a strong passion for pastry, desserts, and baking techniques.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high culinary standards.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and health regulations is required.
