Job Description

A Commis Chef Pastry is an essential part of the culinary team, focusing on creating delicious and visually appealing pastries and desserts. As a learning and support role, the Commis Chef Pastry assists with preparation tasks, follows the guidance of the Pastry Chef and Sous Chef, and hones their skills in the pastry section of the kitchen. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of various desserts and baked goods in the kitchen.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift at all times.
  • Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Assist with the receiving and storage of kitchen inventory and supplies.
  • Handle pastry section tools and equipment safely and maintain them properly.
  • Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are strictly adhered to daily.
  • Work closely with the Pastry Chef to create new dessert menu ideas regularly.
  • Measure ingredients accurately to maintain the quality of baked products.
  • Assist in plating and presentation of desserts for service consistently.
  • Participate in training sessions to improve skills and learn new techniques.
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain clear communication with chefs to deliver exceptional pastry offerings.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a pastry kitchen or relevant culinary education required.
  • Strong knowledge of basic pastry techniques and baking methods necessary.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality desserts.
  • Good communication skills to effectively work within a team setting.
