Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef specializing in Pastry to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Commis Chef, you will work closely with the pastry chefs to create a wide array of tempting pastries, desserts, and baked goods, offering a delightful experience to our guests. You will have the opportunity to enhance your culinary skills by collaborating with experienced chefs in a fast-paced and inspiring kitchen environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist senior chefs in preparing high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
  • Ensure all pastry items are produced to consistent quality standards each day.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry section at all times.
  • Participate in the creation of new pastry menus and seasonal dishes.
  • Follow recipes accurately, ensuring precise measurement and mixing of ingredients.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries to maintain stock control and freshness.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service operations.
  • Display a commitment to learning and personal development within the role.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively to produce high-standard dishes.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards within the kitchen environment.
  • Report any operational or equipment issues to the Pastry Chef promptly.
  • Participate in mise-en-place preparation to ensure efficiency during service hours.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in pastry preparation.
  • Strong understanding of pastry techniques and baking fundamentals.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to create visually appealing dishes.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards and practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques and trends.
  • Culinary education or relevant certification in pastry or a related field is preferred.
