Job Description
Assist the Chef de Partie and other kitchen team members with daily food preparation and cooking activities.
Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, sauces, garnishes, and other mise en place as instructed.
Ensure all food items are prepared according to the required recipes, standards, and portion sizes.
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, taste, and consistency.
Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies while following proper storage and FIFO procedures.
Keep the assigned workstation, kitchen equipment, and preparation areas clean and organized at all times.
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards and hotel procedures.
Ensure proper handling, labeling, dating, and storage of food items to minimize waste and prevent contamination.
Assist with buffet, restaurant, banquet, and other kitchen operations as required.
Support the kitchen team during busy service periods to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Monitor stock levels of ingredients and inform the Chef de Partie of shortages or items requiring replenishment.
Minimize food wastage by using ingredients efficiently and following proper preparation techniques.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunction or maintenance requirements to the appropriate supervisor.
Assist with cleaning and closing duties at the end of each shift.
Follow all health, safety, fire, and hygiene regulations within the kitchen.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum two years of cooking/kitchen experience in an accredited restaurant or hotel
One to two years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel
Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor
Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high-level attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
