Job Description

The CNC Operator is an integral team member responsible for operating and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce high-quality components. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and a commitment to safety standards. The operator will interpret technical drawings, set up machinery, and use equipment like lathes or milling machines to fabricate parts. Success in this position involves maintaining precision and efficiency while minimizing machine downtime. Alongside operational duties, the CNC Operator will inspect product quality, make necessary adjustments, and maintain logs of activities. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality standards.


Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines to produce parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Review and interpret technical blueprints and mechanical drawings for parts fabrication.
  • Set up CNC machines by installing and aligning fixtures, cutting tools, and materials.
  • Monitor machines for proper operation and perform adjustments to maintain specification.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure products meet required specifications and standards.
  • Maintain clear records of machine setup, operations, adjustments, and maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot operating issues as they arise.
  • Ensure that safety protocols are followed to maintain a safe workplace environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to resolve manufacturing issues efficiently.
  • Optimize production processes by identifying opportunities for efficiency improvement.
  • Train junior operators and share best practices for effective machine operation.
  • Work to meet production deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality output.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, with further technical education preferred.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Operator or similar role in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical blueprints accurately.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
