The Cluster AC Technician is responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of air-conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems across both hotel properties. The role ensures that HVAC systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while maintaining comfortable environmental conditions for guests and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of air-conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems across both hotel properties.
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment, including FCUs, AHUs, FAHUs, split AC units, package units, exhaust and ventilation systems.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults related to HVAC systems and carry out necessary repairs.
Monitor air-conditioning performance, temperature, airflow, pressure, and equipment condition to ensure efficient operation.
Attend guest room and operational maintenance requests promptly and ensure issues are resolved with minimal disruption.
Carry out regular cleaning and maintenance of filters, coils, drain lines, blowers, motors, belts, and other HVAC components.
Check refrigerant levels, identify leaks, and carry out refrigerant charging in accordance with applicable safety and environmental requirements.
Maintain chilled-water systems and associated components within the technician's scope of responsibility.
Assist in troubleshooting BMS-related HVAC alarms and coordinate with the appropriate Engineering team when required.
Conduct routine inspections of plant rooms, mechanical areas, guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, offices, and back-of-house facilities.
Identify recurring faults and recommend corrective or preventive actions to Engineering Management.
Support energy conservation initiatives by ensuring HVAC equipment operates efficiently and identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption.
Complete assigned preventive maintenance schedules and work orders within the required timeframe.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, refrigerant usage, and spare parts consumed.
Ensure tools, testing equipment, and machinery are maintained in safe and good working condition.
Monitor HVAC spare parts and consumables and report replenishment requirements to the supervisor.
Follow all hotel health and safety, fire and life safety, environmental, and Engineering procedures.
Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow Permit-to-Work and Lockout/Tagout procedures where applicable.
Assist external HVAC contractors and service providers when required.
Coordinate effectively with other Engineering colleagues and operational departments across both hotels.
Respond promptly to HVAC emergencies and equipment breakdowns to minimize operational impact.
Be flexible to work across both hotel properties based on operational requirements.
Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Cluster Chief Engineer or Engineering Management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical Diploma, ITI, vocational certificate, or equivalent qualification in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience as an AC/HVAC Technician, preferably within a hotel, resort, commercial building, or facilities management environment.
Previous experience in a 4- or 5-star hotel environment in the UAE or GCC is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including FCUs, AHUs, FAHUs, split and package AC units.
Good understanding of chilled-water systems, ventilation systems, compressors, motors, thermostats, valves, and controls.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical faults related to HVAC equipment.
Knowledge of refrigerant handling and applicable safety and environmental procedures.
Ability to read and understand basic HVAC drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) is an advantage.
Good knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and safe working practices.
Basic communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural Engineering team.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physically fit and able to work in plant rooms, confined spaces, and at heights when required.
Flexible to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and emergency call-outs according to operational requirements.
