Job Description

As a Clinical Dietitian, you'll play an essential role in delivering nutritional care and guidance to patients across various healthcare settings. Your expertise in nutrition science will help assess, diagnose, and treat dietary and nutritional problems to promote better health and prevent disease. You'll collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement nutrition care plans tailored to each patient's specific needs. Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' nutritional needs utilizing medical history, laboratory data, and interviews.
  • Develop personalized nutrition plans to meet patients' health objectives and conditions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to integrate nutritional care into medical treatments.
  • Educate patients and families on nutrition, meal planning, and dietary adjustments.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and modify as needed.
  • Maintain patient records, documenting nutritional assessments, plans, and progress notes.
  • Conduct nutrition-focused physical examinations when indicated to inform nutrition care plans.
  • Stay updated on current nutrition research and integrate evidence-based practices into care.
  • Advocate for patients’ nutritional needs within the scope of available resources and limitations.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain and enhance professional competencies.
  • Provide nutrition education and training to healthcare staff for improved patient care.
  • Coordinate with food service departments to ensure patient meal services align with dietary plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) designation accredited by CDR or equivalent certification.
  • State licensure or certification as required by law for practice as a Dietitian.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient and team interaction.
  • Experience with electronic health records and patient data management systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with diverse patient populations.
  • Commitment to adhering to ethical standards in dietetics and promoting patient confidentiality.
