Job Description

A Civil Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing and managing a variety of construction projects from inception to completion. They ensure that all work is carried out according to the planned design and within the allocated time frame and budget constraints. Civil Supervisors are responsible for coordinating with engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure projects meet all structural, safety, and environmental standards. This role demands excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage on-site operations and address any issues that may arise. A Civil Supervisor also maintains comprehensive documentation and reports on project progress, and they are instrumental in ensuring the project adheres to all quality and safety standards.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations on construction sites to ensure the projects run smoothly.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to adhere to design specifications.
  • Monitor project budget and schedule to prevent overruns and delays.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the project.
  • Communicate effectively with construction team members to facilitate collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Resolve any issues that arise, including design changes and unexpected challenges.
  • Maintain detailed records of site activities, progress reports, and project documentation.
  • Organize and allocate resources efficiently to execute the project according to plan.
  • Schedule and supervise construction crew activities and their daily tasks.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to update on project progress and issues.
  • Track inventory and ensure all tools and materials are available as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in supervising construction sites or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, plans, and project management principles.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills for handling multiple responsibilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills suited for diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation applicable to construction sites.
  • Proficient in using construction management software and tools.
