Chief Electrician

• To plan, schedule & carry out preventive maintenance and repair works for construction /mission deck equipment in fleet management for jacking systems, pipe laying systems, heavy lift cranes, mooring winch systems, etc), to ensure continuous, efficient, economical and safe operation of NMDC’s vessels during all modes of operation, including jacking operation, pipe laying and heavy lifting and to which he is assigned when working offshore • To ensure maximum equipment availability/minimum disruption of operations by following established / manufacturer's procedures & liaising with operations team

*Description

• Allocate tasks to crew members and supervise activities to ensure that safe operating procedures are followed
• Analyze and remedy issues/faults that are beyond the scope of Chief Electrician subordinates
• Keep track of inventory and liaise with superiors for the procurement of required spare parts, without undue overstocking
• Ensures that work areas are kept clean and safe working practices are employed
• Maintain appropriate records of work done and consumables used
• Prepare scope of maintenance/repair works required for dry-dock / non-commissioned vessels, equipment and installations and work in close coordination with superiors to monitor subcontracted work
• Compliance in accordance with section/Company policies & procedures, Policy of Integrity & Code of Conduct and HSE standards.

*Responsibilities

• Must be familiar with functioning & maintenance works of A/C systems, refrigeration plant (Chillers, package units, split units, freezers, etc) and physical plant components.
• Good experience in supervising and planning preventive maintenance of Power management systems, UPS systems, transformers, power distribution boards, capacitor banks, ACBs, VCBs, etc
• Good experience in supervising & planning repair, maintenance & troubleshooting of Fixed firefighting and detection equipment & Gas Detection systems for both addressable & conventional types.
• Good experience in installation, repair, maintenance & troubleshooting of different marine industrial electrical equipment (Derrick/Pedestal Cranes, Huisman/SAS/Remacut/ Westech HMD pipe tensioner and pipe handling equipment, Automatic Welding systems, mooring winch system, Ballasting tank level monitoring systems, variable frequency drives, etc..)
• Ability to read/interpret drawings/line diagrams
• Must be able to work as part of a team in remote locations
• Good written and spoken English language skills
• Good communication skills

*Qualifications f

• Three-Year Diploma in Engineering in a related discipline, or equivalent
• Minimum 08 years of relevant experience in similar industries, of which at least 04 years as an Assistant Chief Electrician
